Postgraduate Students Symposium, 17-18 November 2016

The 2016 South Island Social Science Postgraduate Student Symposium will be held at the University of Canterbury from 17-18 November.

This Symposium is co-organised by Lincoln University and the University of Canterbury and encompasses the whole of the South Island of New Zealand. Postgraduate students from North Island universities are warmly invited to attend.

Registration is free and tea and coffee will be provided.

Symposium theme: Transitions

The symposium features keynote speaker Jacky Bowring, Professor of Landscape Architecture, Lincoln University, who will discuss emotional transitions in relation to the post earthquake Canterbury landscape in her presentation “A Moving Landscape.”

Postgraduate students, including Honours, Masters or PhD students, or staff are warmly invited to present on any social science topic in an encouraging and friendly environment.

Presenters can choose from the following three options:

  1. Presentation of 10mins + 5mins Q&A: For those with research at an early stage or smaller projects.
  2. Presentation of 20mins + 10mins Q&A: For those with research at a more developed stage.
  3. Deliver a 1.5 hour workshop
